On 16 November 2019, a Regulation amending the Regulation on Promotional Activities of Human Medicinal Products (Turkish language) was published in the Official Gazette (numbered 30950). The amendment extends the period during which product promotion representatives can obtain their certificate of competency.
Pursuant to the Regulation on Promotional Activities of Human Medicinal Products, product promotion representatives for human medicinal products were obliged to obtain a certificate of competency issued by the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency by 1 January 2019 in order to perform their duties as a representative. Among others, those who had either: (i) graduated from high school; or (ii) worked as a product promotion representative for two years in the preceding five years, and who were qualified by an exam conducted before this date, were eligible to obtain the certificate (see Legal update, Certificate of competence for product promotion representatives). The amendment allows those product promotion representatives additional time to qualify, by extending the period in which to sit the exam until 1 April 2020.
